Feast Your Eyes on a Gorgeous New Yooka-Laylee Trailer

I have some good news, and I have some bad news. We’ll start with the good news: we have the new E3 trailer for Yooka-Laylee , and it looks fantastic. Everything about this game screams Banjo-Kazooie , which is wholly appropriate. If you didn’t know, Yooka-Laylee was borne out of a funded Kickstarter campaign from a group of ex-Rare developers who worked on Banjo-Kazooie . They wanted to revive that platforming magic for the next generation of gamers and Yooka-Laylie is the product of that labor of love.

The game looks like it’s really coming along. Environments are lush, detailed, and colorful, and our heroes already have so much personality. I daresay, this looks like a game that can stand up to the likes of Ratchet & Clank in gameplay and charm. The bad news, though, is that we’ll have to wait until next year to find out just how fun Yooka-Laylee really is; the trailer (embedded below) concludes by announcing a Q1 2017 release date. While it’s a bit further off than we expected, at least we can hopefully look forward to an NX version – it’s only fitting for the spiritual successor to one of the best platformers for the N64.
