Feed the Addiction With Legend of Zelda Anniversary amiibo

Nintendo’s amiibo… you hardly use them for anything, but you know you want them just the same. Now that the initial scalping rush has cooled down, it’s actually not too bad to be an amiibo collector, and Nintendo is happy to provide us with an increasing supply of attractive plastic figurines that happen to do some stuff in a game or two.

The latest amiibo news is a new line of Legend of Zelda figures that have been created to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary. There’s a classic 8-bit Link, an Ocarina of Time Link , and a package deal with a re-designed Toon Link and a Toon Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker . They’ll be released on December 2 of this year.

These amiibo will all have the same functionality as the original Super Smash Bros. Link, Toon Link, and Zelda figurines, so you can use them with games old and new. They’ll have some kind of unannounced functionality with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, too.

I think I’ll be picking up an Ocarina of Time Link . I never liked the “butter stick” design of the original Smash Bros. Link, so he’ll be a nice addition to my amiibo shelf / ad hoc cat toy storage space.
