Final Fantasy XV Will Be Full Sized

Final Fantasy XV Will Be Full Sized

None

RPG-lovers worldwide were thrown for a loop when Square Enix revealed that Dragon Quest IX, a main-series entry in Japan’s sacrosanct gaming phenomenon, would be released on the Nintendo DS. The title’s release date has come and gone and Square Enix delivered, as promised, a full-fledged Dragon Quest experience in the palms of players’ hands. The immediate question, then: Would the company follow suit with its other headlining RPG franchise, Final Fantasy.

Square Enix has confirmed that no, it will not. The company has no plans to bring Final Fantasy XV to either the Nintendo 3DS or the Playstation Vita. According to Yoshinori Kitase—though he was quick to laud the success of side titles such as Crisis Core on portable systems like the PSP—fans of the Final Fantasy series demand top-of-the-line visuals from the series’ main entries, which the handhelds would not deliver, thus precluding them from core series development.
