Sony’s presser was dynamite, giving the Sony faithful a lot to be excited about. Though the PS3 Slim and the reduced price certainly stole the show, Sony did have some interesting tidbits concerning their handheld hardware.

First off, the PSP will get its own apps in the form of PSP Minis. These small programs will carry with them a 100 MB limit and low-cost price points. Fifteen games are set to launch alongside the PSPgo on October 1 st , with 50 titles set for release by the end of 2009.

According to IGN’s Chris Roper, “The first few examples of games of this sort are Tetris and Fieldrunners,” with Hero of Sparta and MiniGore also getting demoed at the Sony Gamescom press conference (games you can currently find at the Apple App Store).

Additionally, Sony announced the PSP Reader – an application that allows consumers to view and read files directly from their PSP. This, along with the announcement of a partnership with Marvel, will let geeks of every stripe the ability to browse and download their favorite comics to the Sony handheld for convenient, on-the-go reading.
