Gamescom 2011: Silent Hill: Book Of Memories Announced For Vita

None

A while back, we heard rumors about a new multiplayer Silent Hill game. Months passed as we heard nothing from Konami about the project. Until today. The game is called Silent Hill: Book of Memories and is being developed as a PlayStation Vita exclusive. It’s not only multiplayer, it’s portable too! So now the question is: How can Konami make this scary?

Konami describes the title by saying “This cooperative mode lets players explore the Otherworlds together, while scare (sic) surroundings, limited resources and dark atmosphere keep the tension high. The story follows a mysterious book, which includes all of the player’s memory – and this content can be altered…”

So the concept is pretty cool, and I’ll bet dollars to donuts that “this content can be altered” means that players can have an effect on each other’s nightmare worlds. Still, the game seems to lose a bit of its bone-chilling terror when you are playing it while sitting next to old Granny Jenkins on the bus. Then again, maybe that makes it even more scary…
