GameStop Looks to Add 17,000 Employees this Holiday Season

Are you unemployed or underemployed? Send your resume to GameStop!  The gaming outlet will be filling over 17,000 positions this holiday season in an attempt to manage the work load that accounts for almost half of the money it makes all year long!

It’s not uncommon to see those little “express” stores pop up in strip malls and shopping centers during the holidays, affording people seasonal work. GameStop says it’s looking to fill a wide variety of positions, ranging from in-store Game Advisors to working in distribution. Expect the work to be temporary and on a part-time basis. However, the upside is part-time employees still get the same discount as regular employees (about 15%). Also, depending on how serious you are about this as a career move, almost 30% of season staff is often times offered full-time jobs later in the year.

Now, I’ve never worked at GameStop personally but I’ve talked to many people over the years that have. Their experiences have ranged from horror stories too really enjoying the gig. For a clear example of how not to put your best foot forward as a GameStop employee, be sure to take a look at this article entitled: “ GameStop Customer-Service Debacle Not an Isolated Incident .”
