Get More Deets on Battlefield Hardline

With the release date of Battlefield Hardline drawing ever closer, fan curiosity continues to grow in regards to just how different this experience will be compared to its traditional Battlefield counterpart. The game’s Creative Director Ian Milham took time to drop some info on Twitter recently that may help answer some of these questions.

While many have their eyes fixed on the multiplayer mode (which will make up the bulk of the title’s activity), there are still those who want to be reassured the single-player campaign will also deliver a rich and immersive experience. This is where Milham focused the lion’s share of comments on his feed, which GameSpot has compiled below. He touched on everything from unlockable weapons to story length and much more.

You can follow Ian on Twitter right here to ensure you receive all his future tweets. For the latest, simply read below:

  • Weapons unlocked in single-player don’t carry over to multiplayer, but some other “stuff” will.
  • The decisions you make in the campaign won’t be specifically moral.
  • You play as one character in the campaign, but you will get to see both sides of the conflict.
  • Don’t expect many quicktime events.
  • The campaign features Isaac Clarke/Dead Space Easter Eggs.
  • There are ten episodes in the Hardline single-player campaign.
  • Some of these episodes will be under an hour long, while some will be more than an hour.
  • Visceral is considering adding more chapters later as DLC.
  • The tone is inspired by the novels of Elmore Leonard, including works based on those novels such as Justified, Out of Sight, and Jackie Brown.
  • Other inspirations include the works of film director Michael Mann, including Heat and Miami Vice.
  • There will be references to previous Battlefield games in the campaign.
  • The story itself is linear, but gameplay is more sandbox-style.
