Hackers Protected from Sony Inquiry

None

In the latest development in Sony’s case against fail0verflow, the team responsible for finding and revealing the PS3’s hardware key, the court has blocked Sony’s pursuit of the identities of the defendant’s members. Unfortunately, if Sony can’t find out the identities of the members, they won’t be able to pursue any legal action.

Sony had attempted to get permission to issue subpoenas to obtain their personal contact information from sites such as YouTube, Google, and PayPal, however that attempt was denied by US District Court Judge Susan Ilston. This development shouldn’t be damning to Sony’s case, though a setback like this will definitely buy the fail0verflow team members more time.
