Halo: The Master Chief Collection Rumor Strengthens Halo 2 Anniversary Rumor

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Rumor Strengthens Halo 2 Anniversary Rumor

A while back, we touched on the rumor of there being a remastered version of Halo 2 , similarly to the remastered version of the original Halo Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary .

Well, according to Engaget’s sources, an entire collection of all the previous games from the main series (being Halo: Combat Evolved through to Halo 4 ) will be receiving an HD remastering in the form of what has been dubbed as the Halo: The Master Chief Collection .

According to Engagdet, the purpose of the collection is to refresh the memories of Halo fans young and old (and to possibly introduce new players to the franchise as well) ahead of release for the recently announced Halo 5: Guardians . Because it’ll only be a collection of the main series of games, spin-offs like Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach will probably not be part of the package.

As far as what is known, a lot of things aren’t that known at all. The collection’s developer has yet to be named, plans for any sort of digital distribution is also also unclear, release date and performance have yet to be detailed, and the chosen release platforms are also unknown.

The rumor of Halo 2 Anniversary initially cropped up on NeoGAF, which was said to release later on in November of this year. What’s more, Microsoft’s newly-made head of Xbox Phil Spencer tweeted that we can expect Halo news at this years E3, and that 343 Industries has a “ great plan ” in place for the franchise.

Spencer also shared his speculation on the rumored Halo 2 Anniversary , specifically its multiplayer. In an interview that occurred a few months back, Master Chief’s voice actor Steve Downes initially “ confirmed ” that you can expect an anniversary edition of Halo 2 this year. However, Microsoft later tried to redact this statement, and Downes responded that his “confirmation” was not official.
