Homebrew Exploit Found in Citizens of Earth for 3DS

People are so ingenious, and homebrew is so neat. Homebrew is kind of the catchall term for custom software or firmware that you install onto a console to make it do things it was never designed to do. Homebrew can turn your old Wii or PSP, for example, into the ultimate emulation machines. Homebrew can do a lot of cool stuff on your 3DS as well! You can create your own custom themes, play import games that you’ve purchased, run emulators, and more. Getting homebrew up and running on the 3DS can be tricky, but it’s not too hard. All you need is an SD card reader and an exploitable game. Keep in mind, by the way, that by putting homebrew on your 3DS you’re definitely voiding the warranty and Nintendo probably wouldn’t approve of your actions, so proceed at your own risk.

There’s a new method for booting up homebrew that we’ve dubbed “Humblehax,” so called because it uses the 3DS version of Citizens of Earth that many of you recently acquired on the cheap from the “Friends of Nintendo” bundle at Humble Bundle. If you decide to use Citizens of Earth as a conduit for your homebrew software, you won’t be able to play the game as long as you have the client installed, but you can always uninstall it. For specific directions and tips you can go here and here . Don’t download any games illegally, and don’t come crying to us if you mess up and brick your 3DS. Happy brewing!
