Linux Now Running on Nintendo Switch

Linux Now Running on Nintendo Switch

Homebrewers have found a way to get Linux running on a Nintendo Switch! Supposedly, the exploit that allows the running of Linux cannot be fixed by any future Nintendo firmware updates. This remains to be seen, but it’s quite the claim to be making! The simple act of running Linux is impressive, since Nintendo systems are supposed to be incredibly hard to crack.

The Switch was initially cracked already last year. This Linux hack in particular was revealed on Twitter by fail0verflow . It seems this homebrewer doesn’t care about the standing order Nintendo has to reward people for vulnerability information. What’s money compared to running Linux on a Nintendo system, I suppose?

With this ability to run Linux on the Nintendo Switch, there will undoubtedly be all kinds of new apps and software for everyone to download. Some might be totally innocent, while others not so much. Piracy is bound to happen. There will always be those who want to turn their Switch into an emulator system for other games.

What do you think about the ability to run Linux on a Nintendo Switch?
