How To Get All Eevee Evolutions In Pokémon Go

Eevee, the adorable fox-like Pokémon with a bunch of different evolutions, has been a fan favorite since its introduction in the first-generation games Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue almost 20 years ago. In Pokémon Go, Eevee continues to captivate trainers with its unique ability to evolve into eight elemental forms. If you’re looking to complete your Pokédex or simply want to add some type diversity to your team, then the good news is that Eevee evolutions aren’t entirely random in this game. Our handy how-to guide will walk you through the tips, tricks, and steps to obtain all of the eight Eevee evolutions in Pokémon Go.

Catching Eevee in Pokémon Go

Before you can evolve Eevee into its various forms, you’ll need to start by catching one. Fortunately, Eevee is relatively common in Pokémon Go and is readily found in various habitats. After you find and catch one, you’ll need 25 Candies to trigger evolution. Once you have your Eevee and your 25 treats, it’s time to decide which evolutionary form you want.

If you give 25 Candies to your Eevee without using any of the tips or tricks we’re about to share, then it will randomly evolve into one of the three Generation I Eeveelutions: Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon. You won’t get to choose which one you get. However, there are a few different methods to get specific Eeveelutions in Pokémon Go. Read on.

Nicknaming Trick for Eevee Evolutions

The quickest and easiest way to get the Eevee evolution you want in Pokémon Go is by using the nickname trick. You can guarantee the outcome by simply renaming your Eevee before evolving it. Here are the nicknames required for each Eeveelution:

  • To evolve Eevee into Vaporeon, name it “Rainer.”
  • To evolve Eevee into Jolteon, name it “Sparky.”
  • To evolve Eevee into Flareon, name it “Pyro.”
  • To evolve Eevee into Espeon, name it “Sakura.”
  • To evolve Eevee into Umbreon, name it “Tamao.”
  • To evolve Eevee into Leafeon, name it “Linnea.”
  • To evolve Eevee into Glaceon, name it “Rea.”
  • To evolve Eevee into Sylveon, name it “Kira.”

Simply rename your Eevee and then evolve it using Candies to get the desired evolution. However, double-check that the silhouette of the Eeveelution you want appears on the “Evolve” button before you press it.

Sounds pretty easy, right? Well, it is – but there’s a catch: This trick only works once for each evolution. After that, evolution will be random. Since you can only use it one time per Eeveelution, do some planning and choose carefully. It’s also a good idea to ensure that the Eevee you’re evolving is strong enough to warrant it.

Buddy Trick for Eevee Evolutions

Another method to control Eevee’s evolution is by setting it as your Buddy in Pokémon Go. By walking a specific distance with Eevee as your Buddy and then evolving it at a certain time, you can get the evolution you desire:

  • To evolve Eevee into Espeon, walk at least 10 kilometers with it as your Buddy and evolve it during the day.
  • To evolve Eevee into Umbreon, walk at least 10 kilometers with it as your Buddy and evolve it at night.
  • To evolve Eevee into Sylveon, earn 70 Buddy Hearts with it as your Buddy.

Doing these tasks ensures you get the corresponding evolution depending on the time of day (this corresponds to your local time) or your Buddy level. Remember that your Eevee must still be set as your Buddy when you evolve it for this trick to work. Espeon and Umbreon are arguably the two best Eevee evolutions in Pokémon Go, at least measured by their stats, so this is a useful trick for trainers to know.

Lure Modules for Eevee Evolutions

Finally, with the introduction of special Lure Modules, you can now evolve Eevee into its two Generation IV forms: The Grass-type Leafeon and the Ice-type Glaceon. Here’s how to do it:

  • To evolve Eevee into Glaceon, use the Glacial Lure Module in a PokéStop.
  • To evolve Eevee into Leafeon, use the Mossy Lure Module in a PokéStop.

Simply activate the corresponding Lure Module when you’re in a PokéStop and then evolve your Eevee to get these unique evolutions. You can purchase the Lure Modules in the in-game shop, but they are also sometimes given as Field Research and Special Research rewards, so check your bags. You might already have one!

And that’s it. Now you have all the knowledge you need to turn your Eevee into any of its eight evolutions in Pokémon Go, so you can go forth and catch (or rather, evolve) ’em all. Eevee’s cute appearance and versatility in the Pokémon series have made it a favorite among trainers and one of the franchise’s official mascots. You’re now ready to add all of Eevee’s evolutions to your collection in Pokémon Go, creating a formidable and diverse team while rounding off your Pokédex.
