Hunting Humanely*

None

Hunting Humanely is as real as hunting gets—with the exception of a dead animal after your successful killshot.

All the thrills and skills of real hunting are yours to enjoy, explore, and exploit with Hunting Humanely. Attach the realistic peripheral gun with built in rifle scope to your PSP and head for the woods.

The game works exactly like a true hunting experience. When you track down your prey, get it in your sites and fire. All physics are taken into account, including distance of target, wind velocity, trajectory, and your steadiness. The game will process all the information, and if you are successful, you’ll be rewarded with a realistic rendering of the animal being killed.

There’s no blood and no corpse. It’s the humane way to hunt, with all the benefits of being outdoors. The developers understand the powerful killing lust experienced by veteran animal murderers, so they know this game is going to be a hard sell to that group. But with incredible rewards and incentives, they hope to attract a new demographic to enjoy this non-lethal style of hunting.

All virtual kills are recorded to the device, where they can be uploaded to the Hunting Humanely website. Size, weight, antlers, age, and other relevant info such as hunting technique and shot difficulty are displayed. Players are then awarded gifts and cash prizes for the best results in specific categories. The developers claim an average prize will be worth in excess of four thousand dollars, with grand prizes including ATVs, trucks, and motor homes.

The developers have ensured there is no way of tampering with the stats—any attempt to do so will render your PSP unusable. This makes it fair for everyone, knowing all photos and stats are as accurate as possible. You can even purchase mounted heads, horns, or rugs of your virtual kill (depending on the animal of course). These items are synthetic, but look and feel like the real thing, created from photos and stats taken of the animal you virtually killed.

“Hunting Humanely is not an alternative to hunting,” says developer Len Meesumcash. “It’s better than the real thing. We’re making it even more exciting, but in a humane way. You don’t have to drag a bleeding, dead, body through the woods and load it on to your truck, take it back to your trailer, and cut it up in the backyard with all that blood and flies. Hunters may pretend to like the meat, but we all know they just like to kill things and eat McDonald’s afterwards. With the money they spend on guns, ammo, transportation, time off work, camouflage clothing, and other equipment, they could be eating T-bones all year long. We want the public to accept this game and let it become the standard in non-lethal entertainment.”

Meesumcash added: “We’re currently working on a Hunting Humans Humanely version, but we’ll see how the animal version goes first.”
