Everything You Need To Know About Pokémon Go: Adventures Abound

With the immediate success of Pokemon GO, it only made sense to continually update the game with new content. Pokemon GO, first released in 2014, is a mobile game based around catching Pokemon in real life. Players use their phones to find Pokemon.

The game lets players live out their dreams of being a Pokemon Trainer while getting some exercise. But, no game can survive without being updated. Pokemon GO solves this problem by using seasons, in-game events that rotate around with the year. In each season, there are various changes to the game, such as:

  • Different Pokemon appear.
  •  Game Events differ depending on the current holiday (such as if it’s Christmas or Halloween).
  •  And the GO Battle League’s in-game events also change depending on the season.

So, with that in mind, what does that mean for Adventures Abound? It is the twelfth season of Pokemon GO and comes with a variety of new things to do. The event runs September 1 to December 1, 2023. There is still plenty of time to catch up on events, Pokemon, Raid Bosses, and more.

Sounds good, but what else is in Pokemon GO?

Such features include:

  • Increased XP from going up a friendship level.
  •  Trainers can open up to 40 gifts daily.
  •  They can also send 40 gifts daily.
  •  2x Friendship Bonus damage in Raids.
  •  Themed Pokemon Spawn Increased.
  •  Egg Changes.
  •  Special and Timed Research is available.
  •  And new Stickers!

To that end, there are also new Pokemon.

For the cities, we have:

  • Gengar, the classic ghost type
  • Gulpin, the sprout
  • Beldum, the rock of rocks.
  • Tranquill
  • Scraggy
  • Gothita
  • Dedenne

For the forest goers, there are:

  • Chansey
  • Staravia
  • Lopunny
  • Crogaunk
  • Shelmet
  • Morelull
  • Oranguru

Plus many more.

Nice! But is that it?

There are also Raid Bosses to challenge, a coop experience where Trainers work with each other to defeat extremely strong Pokemon. But they don’t come around very often and only happen at gyms. According to the Pokemon GO wiki: “Raid Battles occur only at Pokémon Gyms and might appear between 5:00 AM and 7:45 PM local time; they are then available to battle for 45 minutes (the time window and duration can be changed during particular events).”

A Gym is a stronghold where various teams battle it out for control of the location. For example, if Team Valour has it, then the raids will be held by Team Valour.

After that, the usual coop shenanigans begin, with 20 or so players fighting against a Raid Boss in a Raid Party, and players have to win in under five minutes.

When the Raid Boss is defeated, each Trainer gets several Premier Balls. Then, each trainer gets a chance to capture said Raid Boss Pokemon using the Premier Balls, along with any Berries they might have.

Any special Pokemon?

The Adventure Abound season features the legendary Pokemon, Zapdos, and Moltres. Both are birds of extremely hot elements that can and will turn some poor trainer into ash at some point (and no, not the character).

As for Special Research, we have “A Paldean Adventure” where Pokemon from the video games, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon made an appearance.

In addition, there was also the Timed Research for the legendary Master Ball. A Pokeball that guarantees a capture, even if it’s at full health.

And finally, we have Stickers!

Timed Events

There are also Events, as mentioned previously. The current Event is Detective Pikachu Returns! In this event, the Player will get the chance to catch Shiny Pokemon, such as Pikachu and Raichu with Detective hats, as well as catch them in the wild. This event also has features such as:

  • 2x EXP for spinning PokeStops
  •  Detective Hat Slowpoke Release
  •  The aforementioned release of Shiny Detective Pikachu
  •  Themed Pokemon Spawns are increased.
  •  Themed Field Research
  •  Time Research
  •  New Avatar Items
  •  New Stickers
  •  And Collection Challenges!

If any of that strikes your fancy, give Pokemon GO: Adventures Abound a try. At the very least, it can’t hurt to go outside and try to catch a few new Pokemon.
