In 2019, game developer Tendershoot and publisher No More Robots worked together to release the simulation-style video game, Hypnospace Outlaw. The game’s setting is inside a spoof version of early internet culture and takes place in 1999. The game was released for Windows, macOS, and Linux when it was initially released on March 12, 2019. A little over a year later, the game was ported to consoles with Switch, PS4, and Xbox One releases. Hypnospace Outlaw was reviewed favorably by critics and currently sits at 83 on Metacritic. However, the game seems not to have resonated with players as user ratings reviewed the game as average.

The Premise Of Hypnospace Outlaw

In the world of Hypnospace, there is a company called Merchantsoft. This company allows its supporters to browse the internet in their sleep. To do this, you need the company’s invention, the HypnOS headband. The player plays as a Hypnospace Enforcer, basically a moderator of this online space. Gameplay involves solving a variety of cases that can range from copyright violation and harassment to more sinister disturbing cases.

The Main Characters Of Hypnospace Outlaw

The characters of Hypnospace Outlaw consist of the player and the citizens of the Hynospace. Those citizens consist of:

• Abagail Lorne – also known as AbbyWrites58, is a Hypnospace user from Goodtime Valley.
• Adrian Merchant – Merchantsoft’s co-founder and CEO.
• Alan Reynolds – also known as ARLAN_FER_OBBEE. Alan Reynolds is a graphic design hobbyist and Goodtime Valley citizen.
• Alda Gallo – also known as Sherri Heals, is a World Renowned Spiritual Guru according to her page. She deals with spiritual, physical, and supernatural issues.
• Artie Dispenza – also known as Artie, is a Merchantsoft employee.
• Carl Parker III – or BurninRubber50, is a Hypnospace user who is another Goodtime Valley citizen.
• Casper Sundberg – also known as CasperAirGrafix, is a Hypnospace user with a page in the Freelands. He uses his page to advertise his car airbrushing services. He used to be the frontman for Klyfta, a Cosmic jazz-rock band.
• Corey Paul Henderson – or ThatBrassyKid is a Hypnospace user in Teentopia. He is known for his disputes with Zane Lofton, which are the subject of the Teentopia Harassment case.
• Dylan Merchant – is Merchantsoft’s co-founder and lead programmer. He is also known on Hypnospace as DM_NO1ZPUSH3R.

Other Titles In The Series

The developers of Hypnospace Outlaw announced a sequel called Dreamsettler in 2022. On June 1, 2023, a spin-off first-person shooter called Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer was released for Windows and the Xbox Series consoles. Yes, Vengeance is spelled like that on the box art.

Hypnospace Outlaw Cheats

Before you can use cheat codes in Hypnospace Outlaw, you must activate the console in the Hypnospace bios. You do this by accessing the green button in the lower right corner of your screen. Once you have found the Bios menu, check the “Enable console” option. After enabling the console, you can press  ~ to access the console in the game. Warning, these cheats could potentially break your game so use them with caution. The following cheats are for PC only.

The PC versions of Hypnospace Outlaw have access to a booming mod community specifically the MB_MASTERCHEAT mod. This mod is great to pair with the cheats above because it allows you to easily revert any of the previous cheats as well as the following:

• 90s Nostalgia – Rolls back Hypn0S to version 1.04
• MindRESET – Restart from the beginning while keeping everything you’ve accrued.
• Enforcers without borders – Unlock all zones
• Hap DevKit – Installs HAP Software and Unlocks all captures.
• Hibernation_ – Skips to Chapter 5
