Infinity Ward Still Part of Call of Duty Plans; Second Modern Warfare 2 Map Pack Release Window Discussed

None

Today, on Activision’s Q1 2010 conference call, CFO Thomas Tippl confirmed that, despite the ongoing struggles, Infinity Ward is still an integral part of Activision’s Call of Duty development plans.

Tippl was quoted by G4TV as stating, “We have not yet confirmed the individual plans for [Call of Duty] next year. We don’t usually do this at this time. We’re very focused on our communication right now on the release for this year [Call of Duty: Black Ops. What we have said is that Infinity Ward is working on a Call of Duty title and you’ll hear more details as we advance through the year.”

Obviously, the omission of whether or not the CoD title they’re working on is part of the Modern Warfare line may or may not be telling. We’ll have to wait and see how things evolve over the next 12-18 months.

In related news, the second Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer map pack is slated to release via digital download in the second-half of 2010. Expect the pack to drop just before October 12 th , the launch date of EA’s Medal of Honor reboot.
