Not surprisingly, Call of Duty 7 (working title) has been confirmed to be in development. However, the circumstances of its reveal are amusing. Everyone knew that the CoD franchise was scheduled to receive an annual update, with Infinity Ward and Treyarch trading off development responsibility. However, what wasn’t known was how Infinity Ward would be able to develop both Modern Warfare 2 and the seventh installment in the CoD franchise. Apparently, as confirmed by Treyarch senior animator David Kim’s Linkedin profile via ShackNews, Infinity Ward can’t. Consequently, Treyarch has taken over Call of Duty 7 as evidenced by one of Kim’s experience bullets: “I am currently on my second title as a senior animator in the games industry with Activision / Treyarch on Call of Duty 7.”
