LucasArts Purportedly Developing An “Open World RPG”

None

The rumor mill is in full swing thanks to a job posting on the LucasArts website. The posting hints that LucasArts is currently developing an “open world RPG.”

Historically, job postings are an extremely reliable source of game-related rumors, but they’re usually pretty light on the details that we actually care about. No information was given regarding the content of the game, but I’m sure the Internet will place Star Wars at the top of the rumor pile. (Personally, I have my fingers crossed for a Grim Fandango sequel). We also don’t have any indication of its multiplayer capabilities or platform releases. In short, all we really know is that they’re working on a new game, which isn’t very newsworthy, considering that they’re a game developer.

Those who might be interested in applying for the job will be working as a Mid-Level Gameplay Engineer. This means that you’ll be hammering out the technical aspects of gameplay (controls, camera movement, etc). Applicants will also need to know C++, have some type of industry-related degree/experience, and have a “Strong background in Math,” which rules me out.

Also, if any of you actually get this position, you’d be doing me a huge favor if you could punch George Lucas in the mouth and yell, “That’s for ruining Indiana Jones!”

Feel fee to punch him for all of this other movies too.
