In 1994 Electronic Arts, one of the lead sports games developers in the industry, released Madden NFL ’95. This is the first Madden game that portrayed African American NFL players as African American and the first game in the series to have the official NFLPA license. The Game Boy version was the only port that was missing this license so instead it was released as Madden ’95. The game was received very well by critics and fans with it even being listed on Time Magazine’s 100 greatest video games of all time list, in 2012. All of the ports were praised and criticized for different reasons but the consensus is that Madden NFL ’95 is not only one of the best Madden games but one of the best games ever.

The Premise Of Madden NFL ’95

Gameplay features are similar across most of the Madden games however this game is applauded for its accessibility. You can play exhibition matches, Super Bowl, playoffs, or a full season with any of the 1994 NFL teams. Players can also include weather conditions, windowless passing, and all new strategies. Madden NFL ’95 also boasts a bigger field and over 100 new injuries to make the game feel even more realistic.

Genesis Codes

1 Minute game – To enable a 1 Minute game, press the following buttons in the Setup Menu: A, C, C, B, B

Expansion Teams – Before beginning a new game, go to the Game Setup Screen and highlight either the Home or Visiting Team Options. Press L, R, L, R, A to play as the Jaguars, or press L, R, L, R, Y to play as the Panthers.

Fast Blitz – At the setup screen press Left, Right, Left, Right, Y

Keep the Pigskin – Whenever you’re waiting for the ball to be kicked off do the following steps.

  • Wait for the kicking meter to appear.
  • Hold the D-pad right.
  • While holding the D-pad to the right press and hold C.
  • This will cause your opponent to either catch the ball and fumble or miss the ball.

Win the Coin Toss – On the coin toss, press RIGHT to win the toss if you chose heads, otherwise press LEFT.

Passwords

69 Bears – You can enter “69 Bears” and be able to play with the ’69 Bears and little Walter after pressing YYXY at the team select.

Madden NFL ’95 Cheat Code FAQ

When did Madden 95 come out? Depends on which version you’re referring to. The Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy versions came out on November 18, 1994. The Game Gear port didn’t come out until the following year.
