Major Glitch Makes Final Fantasy VI Unbeatable on Android

Major Glitch Makes Final Fantasy VI Unbeatable on Android

There are a lot of things that the Android port of Final Fantasy VI has going for it. Its sprites are very high resolution, far better than the old SNES sprites. Its animations are incredibly smooth. Its menus are easy to navigate. Heck, even attack effects have been completely overhauled to work with modern day Droid technology, which by all means is far more powerful than a SNES. Many gamers are saying that this new Android port is better than the original in every way, except for one: it’s unbeatable.

No we aren’t saying that the game is hard. In fact, the difficulty of the Droid port is actually toned down a bit. The game is literally unbeatable. There is a massive game breaking glitch that has been plaguing the game since its release. It occurs during the cut scene where Kefka is supposed to kill General Leo. During this cut scene the game freezes, and does not accept any input. The only way to deal with it is to go back to your Droid’s home screen and kill the process manually with a task manager.

Currently, there is no way to get past the freeze. Square-Enix has said that they are working on the bug and that a fix will be coming shortly. In addition, they will be fixing a problem with Sabin’s Blitz ability and a misspelling of the term Esper in some dialogue.

When Final Fantasy VI fans were looking to prevent General Leo’s death, I don’t think this was what they were thinking about.
