Marvel vs. Capcom Origins Announced

None

Seeing Capcom’s cast of fighters go up against Marvel’s long list of superheroes is enjoyable to watch and ludicrous to play. As long as you can appreciate gigantic screen-sized death beams, you can appreciate this long-standing series of fighting games.

However, the Versus series wasn’t always about TAC infinites, X-Factor comebacks, and the incredible broken-ness of Wesker and Zero. There was a time when it was all about Mega Man, Jin Saotome, and Captain Commando. Now, Capcom is letting you relive those arcade glory days with Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, a downloadable combo pack of two classic Versus series games.

Marvel vs. Capcom Origins will update Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes for the Internet age. Both titles will have have GGPO-enhanced online play complete with eight-player lobbies and spectator mode. The game will also have HD graphics filters, challenges and achievements, and replay options in the vein of Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition.

Capcom has a long history of re-releasing their classic fighters on the downloadable market. Downloadable versions of Marvel 2 and Street Fighter III: Third Strike have helped to resurrect the scenes for these classic games. In addition, Street Fighter II HD Remix may have contributed to bringing old school fighting games into this new generation.
