Master Chief Parody, Mister Chief, Now Available as Xbox 360 Avatar

Master Chief Parody, Mister Chief, Now Available as Xbox 360 Avatar

Sometimes, it’s just fun to be dumb. As proven by the recent release of the Avatar outfit on Xbox Live Marketplace, you can now deck out your digital counterpart in Mister Chief garb.

Mister Chief was a rudimentary drawing of the legendary Master Chief, and over the years has become one of those little inside jokes that blew up and caused many online to start putting their own spin on it (from cheap chops in Photoshop to some pretty nice pencil drawings I’ve seen).

Franchise Development Director Frank O’Connor spoke with Xbox Wire, and gave a bit of background on the infamous caricature. “Well, I was in a bind. I had lots of things to write about Halo 2, but nothing to show. So I simply “mocked up” a “screenshot” featuring the non-union, off-brand, off-kilter alter-ego of Master Chief, imaginatively named “Mister Chief.” And because it was so terrible, there was nothing that PR could do to stop it. PR is often trying to stop me from doing various things. They have no patience for antics or capers, and no budget to reverse shenanigans. He is carrying a light saber because those are easy to draw, compared with guns, for example.” O’Connor said.

The avatar items are available now as well as Halo 3 , which is free right now via the Games with Gold program .
