Max Payne 3 Sold Less Than Half Of What L.A. Noire Did

None

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has claimed that Max Payne 3 sold less than half of what L.A. Noire managed to achieve commercially.

“Without divulging too much NPD goodness, I can tell you that Max Payne 3 sales were less than 50% of L.A. Noire’s. 8 years in development!” he said in a tweet.

Rockstar’s LA Noire has sold-in nearly five million copies since its release last year. Max Payne 3, meanwhile, shipped—not to be confused with sold—three million units in its first week of release.

It should be noted, though, that Pachter’s “8 years in development” claim is simply incorrect. The game hasn’t been in full development for eight consecutive years; Rockstar wouldn’t have jumped straight into the shooter’s production; the process of planning, testing, etc, may have taken more than a year and that’s not to mention the inevitable several years the studio, as well as previous developer Remedy didn’t work on the game in a development capacity.
