Middle-Earth and More Shutting Down

Middle-Earth and More Shutting Down

None

EA Games has already closed up the servers for most versions of Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth, and Battle for Middle-Earth II for Xbox 360 will be shut down on the 11th of this month. The first part of 2011 will see quite a few more EA server shutdowns. After January 16, The Sims Carnival will no longer be available for online play. February and March will see a pretty substantial list of EA Sports titles with dropped online support, including Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 and NBA Live 08 and 09.

EA claims that these shutdowns will only affect “roughly 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles” and that they feel it makes more sense to “focus on keeping a positive experience for the other 99%.”
