Mike Hayes And SEGA Split

Mike Hayes And SEGA Split

None

CEO of both the U.S. and European branches of SEGA, Mike Hayes, is leaving the company this summer. Taking over his spot in Europe will be Jurgen Post, currently the European Chief Operating Officer. Post’s U.S. counterpart, Masanao Maeda, will claim his respective role in the U.S.

With the company since 2004, Mike Hayes may have been best known for his instrumental role in forming the SEGA Racing Studio and acquiring both Creative Assembly and Sports Interactive, as well as pushing SEGA into the digital marketplace, which burgeoned with the proliferation of broadband internet and console platforms that supported it.

Speaking of him, SEGA president Naoya Tsurumi said, “Mike is a great character and very passionate about the industry, he helped steer the extraordinary growth of Sega and has built an exceptional team of professionals that will stand us in good stead for the future.”

Reinforcing that this is an amicable split, Hayes will remain on in an advisory role, even as he spreads his talents around the industry in both executive and non-executive roles.
