Miyamoto Picks a Favorite Mario

Miyamoto Picks a Favorite Mario

None

Nintendo’s favorite designer Shigeru Miyamoto has worked on plenty of Nintendo’s most beloved franchises, and he was finally asked to pick a favorite Mario game on the occasion of Mario’s 25th anniversary. And his answer was a bit surprising. Miyamoto said in an interview with USA Today that his favorite Mario game was Mario World because “Super Mario World (1990) is something that included of course all the action you saw in Super Mario Bros. but it also had the map features, so it had that element of players having to think about where they were going and what they were going to do next.” Sure, it’s an interesting choice (considering most fans cite either Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario 64 as their favorites, but it seems the combination of new design coupled with the personal experience Miyamoto had with his team has made this game his personal favorite.
