BioWare has just announced a brand new “Story-Driven Single Player DLC” for Mass Effect 3 entitled Leviathan. The plot revolves around a hidden weapon of some sort buried deep in the corners of space. Whatever this is, it’s powerful enough to kill a Reaper. Shepard must uncover this powerful weapon, and in doing so, he will unknowingly unravel mysterious secrets about the history of the Reaper race. Leviathan is scheduled to come out “later this summer” and will cost ten dollars or 800 Microsoft Points.

In addition, we were given some details about the upcoming Firefight Single-Player Weapons Pack. Available for purchase on August 7th on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3, The pack will feature “two powerful new weapons and five bonus weapons to use in the fight to Take Back Earth!” The pack will be available for two dollars or 160 Microsoft Points.

Finally, BioWare has announced that Mass Effect 3 will be coming out on the Wii U as a launch title. The game will feature an entirely new control scheme that takes advantage of the Wii U’s tablet controller. For example, it appears as if you will be able to put your mini-map and menus on the Wii U tablet screen, while the action progresses on your TV screen. The Wii U version will also feature free bonus content, including the Extended Cut DLC.
