More Next-Generation Xbox Rumors Emerge

None

The supposed Xbox 720 has been the topic of much rumor and speculation without a whole lot of proof, and the rumor mill continues running thanks to French site Xboxygen.

According to the site, Microsoft is going to make some kind of new announcement related to the Xbox at CES in Las Vegas this January. They get this info from an anonymous source “very close” to the company. Xboxygen said that the announcement would not be huge, but would rather be a small release of information about the new console and what it can do.

The story also went into details about the new Xbox’s specs. The machine will apparently feature a hex-core CPU with 2GB of DDR3 RAM. It will also feature an AMD brand GPU, and has been in development since 2005, the year the 360 released. A division of Microsoft called “Loop” is supposedly working on next generation software, while a division called “Infinity” is working on the hardware itself.

Rumors have been cropping up about the Xbox 720 since 2009, but they really started picking up steam with the last two E3s, and additional fuel has been thrown onto the fire by a banner spotted in the recent Real Steel film . Might there be something to Xboygen’s claim that the console has been in the works for nearly seven years now?
