NAMCO Bandai Announces “Ninostarter” Promotion

NAMCO Bandai Announces “Ninostarter” Promotion

None

You’d think you wouldn’t need to incentivize people to purchase Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. I mean, this new JRPG is by Level 5, the studio behind Professor Layton, and Studio Ghibli, the animation studio behind classics like Princess Mononoke and Howl’s Moving Castle .

Regardless, NAMCO Bandai has announced a new kind of pre-order promotion for their special “Wizard’s Edition” of the game. Currently the Wizard’s Edition includes a 300-page hardcover wizard’s companion book, a plush of one of Drippy, two DLC familiars, and a fancy box. However, as more people pre-order the edition, NAMCO Bandai will begin to add more items to the bundle.

Dubbed “Ninostarter,” a riff on Kickstarter and its tiered reward structure, this is the first time the contents of a special edition were dependent on the amount of pre-orders that special edition received. It’s a genius idea, and it most likely will make pre-orders of the Wizard’s Edition go through the roof. At this point, anyone who was going to pick up the Wizard’s Edition has no reason not to pre-order it, as your investment simply makes your purchase worth more and more. It wouldn’t be surprising if more companies end up picking up this pre-order model in the future.
