New 2D Prince of Persia In the Works

New 2D Prince of Persia In the Works

Where has Prince of Persia been? The answer is, overshadowed by Assassin’s Creed . You’d think that was a joke, but there’s something to it. Assassin’s Creed has basically overtaken Prince of Persia as the headlining Ubisoft parkour platformer. So how does Prince of Persia become a hit again? Make it go back to its roots as a 2D platformer.

Supposedly, Ubisoft is working on a brand new 2D Prince of Persia platfromer using the UbiArt Framework engine, the same engine that is used for Rayman . The prince will run, jump, swordfight and basically be incredibly acrobatic as he goes through the game, though it is unclear whether or not he will have his time powers.

Last we heard from Ubisoft, the Prince of Persia franchise was put on “pause” for the forseeable future. This news comes from French website Le Portail du Jeu Video and Ubisoft has not made any official comment on the leak yet. So for now, take it with a grain of salt.
