New DBZ Game Has Co-Op Battles

New DBZ Game Has Co-Op Battles

The most distinctive element of Dragon Ball Z is its over-the-top fighting action, often resulting in mass destruction of the landscape in its fighters’ wake. For the longest time, the focus of videogames based on the franchise has been in duplicating this feel, but there is one prospect that only saw simulation back in the PSX/Saturn era of gaming. Released exclusively in Japan, Dragon Ball Z: Legends was an oddity, with a tug-of-war battle system, but it focused on the scale of battles. Teams of multiple Z-fighters and villains squaring off in epic battles.

Now NAMCO Bandai is taking a shot at this. Instead of a one-on-one fighter, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z allows for teams of up to four to duke it out in online play. With promises of “8-player battle royales,” Battle of Z promises to be hectic. There isn’t a solid release date yet, but the game is “coming soon” to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.
