New Motion Controls To Fight Uphill Battle

New Motion Controls To Fight Uphill Battle

None

According to 1UP’s Frank Cifaldi, a recently released report from analyst firm EEDAR shows that Sony and Microsoft’s motion controllers could see rocky times ahead. The report explained that while most gamers are aware of both the Move and Kinect, not many intend to purchase either one. In fact, both new peripherals failed to make it into EEDAR’s annual post E3 report’s top twenty, despite being a known quantity by most gamers.

While EEDAR offered up a host of reasons why this doesn’t necessarily mean that the new peripherals won’t sell well, such as their information being based on traffic data from IGN.com and that the interest will likely grow as their releases approach, this finding seems like it doesn’t bode well for the future of the Kinect and Move. If this report does hold true, it may prove worrisome as most peripherals need to have a fairly large installed base in a relatively short amount of time in order to get and keep developers onboard and making content for them.
