New Patent Suggests Wii U Controller Has More Features Than We Thought

None

Even now, after the Wii U has been revealed and we all got a chance to go hands on with it, it’s mysterious capabilities still manage to fill us with awe. New documentation continues to come out, proving that we still don’t know everything this new console can do.

Recently revealed patent documents for the Wii U’s revolutionary controller detailed all the capabilities we already heard, with a few additional things we weren’t aware of before. The first notable addition was an undetermined amount of flash memory. Our knee-jerk reaction says that Nintendo will be allowing people to transfer their Miis from console to console this way, but there are so many more possibilities as well. What if the controller holds your save games? What if it holds entire games you can take on the road with you? We can’t wait to see what Nintendo is cooking up.

In addition, the controller also has a magnetic sensor of some sort. Perhaps this can be used in order to detect the motion of the player, independent of the motion of the controller. Maybe it will interact with some sort of magnetic peripheral. Honestly, we aren’t really sure at this point.
