New Super Smash Bros. Won’t Offer Cross-Platform Play

New Super Smash Bros. Won’t Offer Cross-Platform Play

The newly announced Super Smash Bros. title is the first dual-platform installment in the series’ history, so fans immediately hoped to see compatibility between the two versions of the game (Wii U and 3DS). Unfortunately, director Masahiro Sakurai has since confirmed that the game will not support cross-play because of stage differences.

All is not lost, however. Players will still be able to transfer customized characters between platforms.

Wait. Customized characters in SSB?

Yes, you read that right; the next Super Smash Bros . will allow players to customize characters beyond variant skin selection. The options therein have not been fully detailed, but we can expect something beyond color manipulation. We may not be able to Gran Turismo 4 them, but there will be greater depth to character detailing.
