Nintendo ‘NX’ SDKs Being Sent to Developers

Nintendo ‘NX’ SDKs Being Sent to Developers

Very exciting news today as the Wall Street Journal reports that sources say Nintendo has started sending out software development kits for its upcoming console, which we’re still calling the “NX.” This doesn’t mean that the console is finished, but it does mean that Nintendo knows the specs and is eager for studios to start working on games for its console.

The report also mentioned that the NX will contain “industry-leading chips” to compete with the Xbox One and PS4, and that it will ship with a “mobile unit that could either be used in conjunction with the console or taken on the road for separate use;” something we’ve suspected for a while now. Considering that Nintendo is still remaining very secretive, I expect that the controller won’t be used for a simple remote play feature like we see with the PS4 and Vita, but will be something new; something innovative.

Nintendo stated that we wouldn’t get any solid details about the NX until 2016, but I suspect that when we do, we’ll have a release date before too long. Here’s hoping that by summer 2016 we’ll be anticipating the release of Nintendo’s new baby.
