Nintendo Promises To Make Wii U Affordable

Nintendo Promises To Make Wii U Affordable

None

Nintendo head honcho Satoru Iwata has reassured anyone anticipating the upcoming Wii U launch that his company will make its next console affordable from the get-go.

Speaking to Japanese paper Yomiuri Shimbun, Iwata says that he is committed to not repeating the mistakes of Nintendo’s high-priced 3DS launch mishaps last year.

“We won’t make the same mistake that we did with the 3DS,” said Iwata, “which was considered relatively high by consumers.”

Iwata went on to further assure investors that Nintendo will return to profitability by the fiscal year’s end, stating that it’s “fixed the 3DS profitability issue.”

The word should come as no surprise. The 3DS was released last March to many complaints over its high price point, only to see the price drop drastically only five months later following lackluster sales figures.
