Nintendo Working On New Handheld Wii?

Nintendo Working On New Handheld Wii?

None

Nintendo’s success with both the Wii and their handhelds are undeniable.  The next logical step is to combine the successes into one, and this step is looking more likely according to a recent product patented by Nintendo.

The patent, filed in March, describes a portable system that has Wii-like motion sensing abilities.  The description, sounding very similar to a pre-announcement description of the Wii-mote, reads “The housing incorporates an XY-axis acceleration sensor to detect an acceleration in an X-axis and Y-axis direction and a Z-axis contact switch to detect an acceleration in a Z-axis direction.”

With the success of the Wii, the next logical step seemed to be taking the motion sensing trend into Nintendo’s domination of the handheld market, so it’s likely we might be hearing news of a wee Wii soon.

More on this as it develops.
