OnLive Sale and Wi-Fi Beta Announced

OnLive Sale and Wi-Fi Beta Announced

None

OnLive, the cloud-streaming video game service, is continuing to try to bump up their number of subscribers. As such, they’ll be holding a sale Labor Day weekend in order to entice new subscribers (via 1Up). The sale will see their games coming in at half price, and if that’s not enough to get your attention, they’re also extending their “Founding Members” program until the end of the year. This allows users to sign up for a free first year, with an optional second year coming in at about five dollars.

Along with the sale, OnLive will also be initiating their Wi-Fi beta program. Until now, all OnLive users needed a wired internet connection, however, if the beta is successful, the service should allow for Wi-Fi service in the future. About the Wi-Fi beta, COO Mike McGarvey states “Wi-Fi support has been the most requested feature among OnLive members, so we made it a top development priority and were able to roll out a beta version ahead of schedule.” No specific date was given for the beta but it will be starting at some point during this month.
