Overwatch Gets Weekly Brawls and a Route 66 Trip

Overwatch Gets Weekly Brawls and a Route 66 Trip

It’s time to get your kicks on Route 66. Don’t worry about packing a bag. If you’re part of the Overwatch closed beta, you’ll be doing it from home. Blizzard has been adding more and more to the game as the weeks go by, and the latest update adds a map, a mode, and a highlight feature. It’s exciting!

The map is, of course, the aforementioned Route 66. Overwatch players will help escort people past the Deadlock Gang, heading down a nostalgic road with shops and cafes lining the way. It should be a fun and clever way to enjoy some cover. It certainly seems pretty good, as far as escort missions go.

Weekly Brawl is the new mode, and it’s inspired by Hearthstone’ s Tavern Brawls. Every week, Overwatch players can play through a 6v6 match under certain conditions. Examples provided by Blizzard all involved preselected heroes. You might need to play as one specific person, a character from a certain class, or someone random each time. Since it’s a test, there’s a new condition every day instead of every week.

Finally, Overwatch now has highlights. You can save highlights from each session, which you can view after going through at least one match that session. Sadly, you can’t save them, so they won’t last beyond that session or be on your computer, but it is a hint of things to come!

Isn’t progress amazing? I wonder what else could be added before Overwatch’ s May 24 launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
