Angel Hamilton, better known to his subscribers as zilianOP, set the internet ablaze last week when he was seen rising from his wheelchair on camera and apparently walking off-screen. Viewers, as well as those who saw the event later, were outraged and zilianOP’s Twitch channel soon went down. Both he and his girlfriend, Breanna (known online as “Panthoria”), attempted to explain what appeared, to many, to be fraud.
TwitchTV has announced that both his and his girlfriend’s accounts have since been banned, citing “terms of service violations.” Twitch views Hamilton’s behavior as fraud and has terminated their partnership contract with him. They will also be extending refunds to viewers who were subscribed to his channel. Twitch further notes that Hamilton’s behavior is particularly unfair to those who stream despite real disabilities, citing user Aieron and the group AbleGamers as particular examples.
Hamilton had, over the course of his streaming life, raised an alleged $20,000. It is unclear what, if any, legal action will be pursued against him.
