There are a lot of video game movies being planned. Uncharted, World of Warcraft, and even Deus Ex are all going to be adapted for the big screen. However, we never thought that we would see Pikmin in move theaters, but sure enough it’s going to happen.
Next month at the Tokyo International Film Festival, Shigeru Miyamoto will be showcasing a brand new animated Pikmin film. The film, entitled Pikmin Short Movies , pretty much does what it says on the tin. It’s made up of three animated shorts, all starring Olimar and the Pikmin. The shorts are titled The Night Juicer (“Captain Olimar makes his favorite juice”), Treasure in a Bottle (“Pikmin meet a strange treasure”), and Occupational Hazards (“an adventure at a construction site”).
For now, these shorts are only being produced for the Tokyo Film Festival, and there is no word on whether or not they will be released to the public. So you’ll have to be in Japan in order to see the Pikmin blown up to movie size. That being said, we can always hope that these shorts will be released as some exclusive Nintendo movie content via the Wii U or something.
