Like Indie Game: The Movie , Pixel Heart is a documentary that wishes to shed some light on game development. The Pixel Heart team can only create their documentary as long as they receive the full $82,192 through crowdfunding. However, they only have seven days remaining, and they have currently raised $13,159.
Co-director Charles, who worked with Ubisoft as an associate producer on Just Dance , explains that he wants to show the “human aspect” behind game development. To do this, he plans to recruit six game developers from around the globe, each one will explain their creative process. Charles and his team have recruited well-known developers who have worked on games such as The Sims , Rez , Little Big Planet and more.
Each developer will contribute a single asset needed to create a video game such as a sound effect. Afterwards, Charles will host The Pixel Heart Game Jam, where hundreds of developers will gather to create 12 games using only these six items. This is, of course, assuming that the documentary can receive full funding.
I’m actually surprised this hasn’t been funded. This is an awesome project that could inform us on the creative processes used by the very people who develop the games we enjoy.
