Playstation Vita Losing Some Apps

Playstation Vita Losing Some Apps

Two of the PS Vita’s apps are, unfortunately, going to be discontinued soon. The first is YouTube, one of the most popular apps across all Sony platforms. Players can still watch YouTube videos through the systems web browser, and this interface did include more features than the app. But ti was still nice to have quick YouTube access from the home screen. The YouTube app was originally introduced in June 2012, giving it only two and a half years of service.

The other app is the PS Vita’s Maps app. This app, more planned for Vitas with cellular service, would act as a pseudo GPS, and would allow you to see other Vita users near by. Other apps that use the map feature, like the Near app, will have reduced features as well.

Sony did not give any reason for removing these apps. However, they did say that gameplay of any games will not be affected in any way.
