Stray is an iconic game that took the internet by storm in 2022 and 2023. It first launched for PS4, PS5, and PC on July 19, 2022. It was later released for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on August 10, 2023. This hopepunk game was developed by indie French studio BlueTwelve Studio. This game was their debut. Stray was even published by indie game icon Annapurna Interactive.
This third-person “cat game” was highly anticipated and did not disappoint. It won 6 awards, including “PlayStation Game of the Year” for the Golden Joystick Awards and “Most Innovative Gameplay” for the Steam Awards. An animated film adaptation is even currently in the works.
Stray Premise
This game follows a stray cat in a futuristic, neon, post-cyberpunk cybercity. It is lost, alone, and separated from its family in a long-forgotten city. Roam your surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats, and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures. Climb obstacles, leap across platforms, and interact with the environment to solve puzzles and escape danger.
Discover what happened to the city and where the humans went, rejoin your family, and save the local robotic inhabitants known as the Companions — all as a small orange cat.
Stray Series
Stray is a standalone game with no current sequels or prequels. Although with its major popularity and ambiguous ending, a sequel could happen in the future. And there is an animated film adaption that is currently in the works.

Stray Cheat Codes
Unfortunately for players, Stray does not have any cheat codes. Many modern-day games have abandoned the cheat code system that was iconic at the beginning of the gaming industry. They were originally a tool for developers that is no longer needed. Luckily, players who own the PC version are still able to implement cheats into the game by downloading a cheat trainer. These trainers can activate useful cheats such as the following:
