Pokémon Black and White Breaks Records

Pokémon may be more than a decade old, but it seems the pocket monsters still have some serious selling power in the US. Pokémon Black and White have gone on to become the fastest-selling Pokémon games ever, shifting 1.08 million units in its first day of release.

Previously, this record was held by Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, which shifted a little over 700,000 units in its first twenty-four hours. The speed at which Black and White is selling is a little surprising, considering Diamond and Pearl had substantial hype and attention as the first “true” Pokémon game on the Nintendo DS system. However, it seems time just intensifies obsessions, and Black and White is continuing the series’ upward trend.
