Pokemon Go Adjusting Training, Capture Bonuses

Pokemon Go Adjusting Training, Capture Bonuses

Pokemon Go is a game in flux. New things are constantly being added and old things adjusted. While trading and trainer battles aren’t next up on the docket, upcoming updates will help improve existing features. Niantic will be adding capture bonuses and improving gym training.

Capture bonuses are the most exciting element. Right now, Pokemon Go awards you medals for catching certain numbers of a type of Pokemon. For example, you’ll first get a Kindler badge for catching 10 fire-type Pokemon, and will receive better versions of that medal for hitting the 50 and 200 point marks. After the update, having those medals will give you catch bonuses when capturing that type of Pokemon. So, if you’ve caught over 200 fire-types, you’ll have a much easier time catching fire-type Pokemon in general.

The gym training adjustment is less exciting. Training at a gym held by your team increases its level, allowing more Pokemon to be placed there. Before, you could only bring one Pokemon into a training match, After an update, you’ll be able to take in six Pokemon and their CP will be adjusted to make the fight a little easier.

Both of these are good things, but I think I’d have been more excited about capture bonuses if it had arrived earlier. I already have 100 different kinds of Pokemon in Pokemon Go . I probably won’t go back to the app until trading is added or a new generation of Pokemon is available. But hey, maybe there are diehard players who can take advantage of such things!
