Pokemon Go Bans Rolling Out in Waves

Pokemon Go Bans Rolling Out in Waves

Niantic has begun its first major wave of bans on all the tricksy trainers out there. If Niantic suspects or detects that you’ve been using third-party software or apps to “enhance” your time with Pokemon Go , you can expect a nice little message in your inbox in the near future that reads something like this: “Trainer, Your account has been terminated. Use of any other third-party software or app, including but not limited to scripts/apps, applications used to falsify your location, emulators, modified or unofficial software, and/or accessing Pokemon GO clients or backends in an unauthorized manner is considered cheating… Please consider your account permanently terminated unless we reply back to your appeal.”

Ouch! It’s that last bit that has everyone a little nervous: the mention of accessing Pokemon Go clients or backends in an unauthorized manner. That’s pretty much what anyone who used websites like Pokevision (and similar sites) were doing. Just how far Niantic will go to pursue the average Joe and Jane who used those sites prior to their being taken down has yet to be seen, and if you were utilizing those resources, we wish you luck.
