Pokemon Go Refunds Rolling Out

Pokemon Go Refunds Rolling Out

A pretty big update has come to Pokemon Go , and it isn’t a good one. Niantic has updated the app to 1.1 and taken away some pretty important functionality. In addition to move rebalancing, the step counters have been taken away from the radar. And that, my friends, is causing lots of people to ask for refunds.

Here’s why. Pokemon Go has had a step problem for a while now. When the app first launched, you could see between zero and three steps below a Pokemon, indicating how close or far away it was. For a while, there were constantly three steps. Which was fine, because there were sites like the now-defunct PokeVision that would tap into the API and tell you exactly where the Pokemon were. Now, there are no steps whatsoever and Niantic has taken down all of those fan websites tracking Pokemon.

Which means people are contacting Google and iTunes support to get their money back. And Google and Apple are issuing refunds. People are saying they paid money for items that they expected to use to find certain Pokemon, and now they aren’t finding them. It’s a valid claim, and good to see people are getting money back now that the app isn’t working as expected.

Has this hurt your appreciation for Pokemon Go? Did you pay money? Maybe go ask for it back.
