Grand Theft Auto V Cheats & Cheat Codes for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and More

Grand Theft Auto V is a 2013 open-world game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. When it was initially released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it was an instant megahit, with over $1 billion in sales across its first three days. Later releases on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S have seen Grand Theft Auto V become the most successful entertainment product ever made, sitting at $6 billion in lifetime sales. Although no sequel has yet been released, there’s no doubt that the game remains one of the most influential video games of all time.

Grand Theft Auto V Premise

You’re a true harbinger of chaos in Grand Theft Auto V.

Grand Theft Auto V takes the series’ traditional formula and turns it up a notch. You’re given the entirety of Los Santos to explore, and wreak havoc however you choose. Most players spend their time driving around in a stolen car, breaking every law possible before getting involved in high-octane police chases across the city. It just never stops being fun! Despite this, Grand Theft Auto V also offers a massive amount of side content to take part in, giving you plenty to distract yourself with. In a series first, you can do all of this from a first-person perspective. Third-person view remains the standard, but it’s interesting to see how the formula translates to a new format.

However, it’s not all unorganized chaos. Like every Grand Theft Auto game, V features an enormous main story that gives the game a real sense of progression. This story takes the exaggerated parody humor the series is known for, providing a scathing critique of American society circa-2013. Written by Dan Houser, Rupert Humphries, and Michael Unsworth, the trio had their finger on the buzzer in regard to the time period. While some of the references might seem dated by today’s standards, there’s enough that hasn’t changed for it to remain relevant today.

The biggest new addition to the game is the Heists. These Heists take place during the main story, with a few to play through. In each one, you choose your crew, perform the set-ups, and execute the heist in a variety of different ways depending on your own choices. The overall success of the heist depends on how well you do the previous steps, and it’s truly a game-changer. Our only criticism is that there wasn’t more!

Grand Theft Auto V Main Characters

You get three protagonists for the price of one in Grand Theft Auto V.

For the first time in the series’ history, Grand Theft Auto V allowed gamers to take charge of three different protagonists, with the ability to switch between them at almost any time. This added plenty of personality to the large cast, with each protagonist coming from different backgrounds. Overall, this means that no matter who you play as in the game, you’re always going to come across some weird and wonderful characters to interact with.

Key Cast of Grand Theft Auto V

  • Michael: Michael is the first protagonist in Grand Theft Auto V, beginning the game retired from a former life of crime with a brand-new identity, presumed dead. His past finally catches up to him, and he is forced to come back into the profession after a string of bad decisions leaves him in a stack of debt with some extremely dangerous individuals.
  • Trevor: Trevor is the second protagonist in Grand Theft Auto V. A former friend of Michael’s, Trevor has been spending his years lying low in Blaine County. His key traits are his recklessness and his aggression, which dominate pretty much every scene he appears in. Trevor joins Michael when he discovers his old friend is still alive after almost a decade of hiding.
  • Franklin: Franklin is the final protagonist of Grand Theft Auto V. He starts the game as a small-time gangster, living a life of petty crime. Despite this, he has abilities beyond his current status, the potential of which is noticed by Michael. He becomes involved with Michael’s higher-risk-higher-reward criminal lifestyle, which sees his reputation increase as the game progresses.
  • Devin Weston: Devin is the overarching antagonist of Grand Theft Auto V, although this only becomes apparent in the game’s third act. He’s a billionaire that initially provides you with jobs to do, before his true colors are eventually revealed.

Grand Theft Auto V Titles in the Series

The Grand Theft Auto series is the jewel in Rockstar’s crown.

Grand Theft Auto remains one of the most popular series in all of gaming, with its specific flavor of free-roam chaos resonating with both casual and hardcore gamers. Despite its enduring popularity, it’s no secret that Rockstar takes its time with the games, only releasing once they’re fully ready. There’s no doubt that gamers get a much better end product at the end, but with a decade now passed since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, players are chomping at the bit for a sequel.

Grand Theft Auto V Cheat Code FAQs

An official promotional image for Grand Theft Auto V.
These are the most-asked Grand Theft Auto V cheat code questions.

Does Using Cheats Disable Achievements in Grand Theft Auto V?

Yes, unfortunately, using cheats does disable achievements and trophies in Grand Theft Auto V. However, this only disables them for your current session, so you don’t have to worry if you want to still get achievements further down the line.

If you’re a completionist, there’s another thing to be aware of. Enabling and using achievements will disable 100% completion for that mission, so you should beware when using them during the story.

If you’re still concerned about using cheats and getting achievements, you can also make a separate save file to play with cheats where you can mess about without risk.

Do These Cheats Work in Grand Theft Auto Online?

Definitely not. There’s no way that you can alter the gameplay in Grand Theft Auto Online, so that rules out many of the available cheat codes. In terms of money and vehicles, the in-game economy is crucial to Grand Theft Auto Online, so it wouldn’t make sense to allow players to change that at will. When so much of the game revolves around microtransactions, ultimately it would be a huge surprise if cheat codes were allowed.

All of this doesn’t stop the thousands of players who instead decide to use hacks in Grand Theft Auto Online, but we wouldn’t recommend this route as it almost certainly leads to a permanent ban for your account.

Is There An Infinite Money Cheat For Grand Theft Auto V?

Unlike previous iterations of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Grand Theft Auto V doesn’t have any kind of infinite money cheat to use that would allow you to get free cash in Los Santos.

For console players, the fastest way to make money is to manipulate the stock market via assassination missions. But for PC, there’s another solution.

On PC you can use a trainer to change plenty about the game, including your money situation. The most popular of all is Simple Trainer. It’s an extremely powerful tool once you get to grips with its daunting UI.
