Pokemon Snap Finally Hits Wii U Virtual Console

Pokemon Snap Finally Hits Wii U Virtual Console

The Wii U isn’t dead yet, it’s just… somewhat undead. Nintendo continues to dribble out Virtual Console releases that should have appeared long ago. Like Pokemon Snap !

This Pokemon photo safari game first appeared on the Nintendo 64 in 1999. It’s an on-rails “shooter” style game in which you’re tasked with taking quality pictures of various Pokemon, then judged by Professor Oak. Extra points are awarded for finding Pokemon in special poses or capturing multiples of the same Pokemon in a frame. You’ll need to acquire special items in order to lure out some of the rarer Pokemon.

Like all Virtual Console releases, Pokemon Snap on the Wii U is identical to the original release save for VC features such as support for multiple modern controllers, save states, and off-screen play. It is available today on the North American eShop for $10. It has been available in Japan and Europe since early to mid-last year.
